The Spicy Shoot for Plantex Agro

The Spicy Product Shoot for Plantex Agro

In this post, we discuss the product shoot of a not so common product and the frame set up is bound to give you a nostalgic rush to your alma mater’s science laboratories.

Do the lip-smacking, finger-licking good advertisements grab your eyeballs? The brands showing plucking the fresh spices directly from the farmlands, crushing it by hand, doing the perfect mix of all the spices to prepare all the mouth-watering food that makes it difficult for us to overcome gluttony. Well, besides the fact the food products actually are delicious, the process of its making is a big illusion. Not the part which everyone already knows that they are mass-produced in factories but there is no crushing of spices or even mixing of the powdered forms is involved. They mostly use oleoresins of spices or other condiments which are semi-solid extract soluble in a particular solvent.

Plantex Agro Products is a company manufacturing these essential oils and oleoresins since 2003 although the company was founded in 1999 as a whole spice trading company. They develop outstanding new and authentic flavours for our diverse regional platters. The spice blends are widely used by manufacturers of pickles, sauces, dips, spice masala, seasoning, namkeen, dry snacks, etc.

THE GEAR

THE SETUP

  • The backdrop of the products varied from single coloured ply of black then white, wooden planks of two different set of hues.

  • The whole spices accompanied the oleoresins in the flasks to showcase  the flavours it contains.

  • A few shots were combined with the products in the manufacture of which these Plantex’s products are used.

  • There was a colour play factor. So, only the main products took the bright coloured positions holding the viewer’s focal point or leading the focus from one product to another.

  • The background colours were comparatively dull and earthy tones or plain black and white without any texture or pattern to avoid visual chaos.

Any such commercial shoot involves both ideation from our side interlinked with the deep understanding of the brand name from the client’s end. It is all about hitting the right chords before actually reaching the shoot floor. The first sight of the colourful liquids seemingly reminded us of Chemistry laboratories and it was, “Why not?”, call. All these Borosil flasks, petri dishes arrived on the shoot floor. To add an earthy feel to a few frames, ample earthen pots and plates were used and basic cutlery to remind us of home. Simplicity was the key and we stuck with it for the entire shoot for Plantex Agro Products.

What matters the most is keeping in mind the end goal for the images. during the production meeting with the client prior to the photo shoot it was understood that the images would be used online and offline. Plantex would use the images on flex for trade shows, brochures, handouts and flyers. Other than that the images would be available on their website and social media.

We left ample space around the images so that the graphic designer could crop or move around the images as they would need for the final design. Also for social media posts they can get some text on the images and not bother about extending the background. The plan is always to work along with the requirements of the clients and then some more. This way you know for sure that you have all the bases covered and they get the maximum bang for their buck.
